" JOURNEY "
Pastel Paintings by Beverley Edwards
Webster defines jorney as a noun: Travel from one place to another, a trip. Syn. Travel, tour, passage, jaunt, pilgrimage, excursion. Verb: to travel..

For this artist, a journey is not only a physical trip but also both a visual passage and a spritual pilgrimage in search of special views in space/time. A special moment to capture the timeless essence of the "scene" when the viewer and the view/ the seer and the seen are one! It is this experience the artist attempts to communicate to those who view the work. While the viewers may not know the particular scene depicted, they may relate the experience to what they have seen and do know!

These first three paintings are of such "special moments" experienced on a journey to New Zealand and the passage through Milford Sound between the North and South Islands and then on to a safe harbor in Otaga.
